West Sound Radio started broadcasting on 16th October 1981, serving Ayrshire, Arran and Cumbrae. The station had some big names broadcasting on it during the early years including Jakki Brambles who went onto present the Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 1 and can now be heard on Greatest Hits Radio, as well as renowned Scottish singer, the late Sidney Devine.
