The Radio Ark was originally set up in 2001 with an aim of letting visitors listen to old radio jingles and programmes that were long forgotten. At that time the Internet was mostly still only available by using a dial up connection at a maximum connection speed of 56kbps. Much of the audio on our original site was streamed using Real Audio/Real Player and was encoded at just 32kbps. Fast forward a quarter of a century and we now have high speed fibre optic connections that are ‘always on’ with so much audio and visual available on demand.
How our original site looked back in 2001, when most of it was built using Microsoft Front Page (remember that) and every single web page had to be designed using a lot of HTML.
